PFT is a non Government organization,neither profit making nor profit sharing established by local community residing in Temeke district,in Dar es salaam region,the founder members brought up the idea to establish such an organization after recognition that many people of Temeke district and Tanzania at large fail to solve their problems as they are drastically poor,so PFT was established for the purpose of creating a tool that is potential to enable very poor and marginalized people to provide access to financial services to enhance household economic security by helping households build wealth through savings,generate income through various activities and manage to turn pennies into thriving business and hence manage to create self reliant in improving their lives and livelihoods.The concept was to establish an organization that will establish VICOBA gorups to provide members,a safe place to save and the opportunity to obtain loans to meet subsitence needs or to invest in income-generating activities.
This model will be integrated with other development intervetions focusing on Health,HIV/AIDS,Environmental sanitation, and Education.This intergration happens when other programs are added to VICOBA programs or when programs are introduced to complement other programs.
PFT was officially registered in 2010 in the united Republic of Tanzania under the Non-governmental organizations Act,2002 made under section 12(2) of Act No 24 of 2002 with registration No:00NGO/00004071.
PFT activities focus on poverty alleviation,on extending,improving,and sustaining household income,health,education and welfare services for the marginalized and poor people by involving the target beneficiaries and creating partnerships involving government,development partners,bussiness and citizens organizations.
PFT is utilizing VICOBA project as the key tool for impementing intervetions to bring about self reliance within the desired general populace.It is the strategy that bring the people together and hence fight for poverty and for the better health.
PFT has managed to establish 124 groups of VICOBA with 2977 in which women constitutes 87% and men 13% of the total member involved in the project.
